Engagement

We work with over 300 local Flood Action Groups in England and Wales.

We work with over 300 local Flood Action Groups in England and Wales and have supported the development of local groups for over 20 years. We believe in a community-led approach to flood resilience by empowering people to influence the decisions that may affect flood risk.

Flood Action Groups ensure communities form partnerships with Flood Risk Management Authorities (FRMAs) to work collaboratively together to reduce flood risk. This helps to create a productive way of working for agencies and communities and enables trust to be built. It means communities are empowered to take a lead using their local knowledge, and for future schemes and projects to be progressed with all parties involved.

We bring together an understanding of community engagement and flood awareness initiatives from additional stakeholders including, Emergency Planning departments, Highways, the Environment Agency, Internal Drainage Boards and Water Companies.

As trust develops between communities and flood risk management teams the horror of being flooded can be transformed to hope. By facilitating and enabling a community to speak for itself we engender co-creation which in turn brings a brighter future for flooded people.
